The Centre for International Business and Management (CIBAM)  was first established in 1995 within the University of Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) with the aim to encourage dialogue between business and academia, and in order to provide a focus and help consolidate the activity within the School in the broad area of International Business. CIBAM was the first Centre to be established at CJBS.

CIBAM endeavours to identify links between business practice, academic theory and business and public policy, by leveraging dispersed knowledge and creating new, in order to derive "good" practice and provide advice on "good" policy on the wide theme of Sustainable Value and Wealth Creation and Capture by business firms, regions and nations.  It maintains close links with Queens’ College at the University of Cambridge, where Professor Pitelis is a Life Fellow.

CIBAM aims to deepen the understanding of internationalisation and managing in the semi-global, intangible assets-based economy. It draws upon the expertise of its Global Advisory Board, a group of eminent business leaders and its international staff and associates. It conducts research, seminars and workshops, Distinguished Lectures and Global Business Symposia and provides advisory services in the following main areas:

  International business strategy

Foreign direct investment, strategic alliances, business ecosystems and clusters

National competition, innovation, industrial and competitiveness strategies

Strategic human resources and intercultural management

    Transition, emerging and emergent economies

The Centre receives financial support from its Global Advisory Board Members and Business Associates, and national and international organisations. It currently runs projects and conducts research in Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Asia Pacific.
